Silk is the architectural focal point of the ground floor of the hotel, having been converted from the old Number One court. The room is covered by a huge vaulted glass ceiling and is framed by original English Oak panelling. The Judges bench, dock and witness stand have been kept in their original setting and greatly compliment the style of the restaurant.

Silk’s style of menu is derived from the historical “Silk Road, a series of routes that crisscrossed Eurasia over land and sea encouraging trade from the first millennium BCE. The most memorable objects traded where the 8th century Shosoin collection of objects, which originally belonged to a Japanese emperor and is the single most important group of Silk Road-related luxury items still in existence.
