The Tower is located on the north bank of the River Thames right beside Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, so perfect for exploring the historic landmarks or the riverside, both on foot or on one of the many river cruises. The hotel also overlooks St Katharine's Dock, a unique waterside location in the centre of London.
The financial district, Hays Galleria and the London Dungeon are all close to the hotel. You can go further, of course – there’s easy access to the Underground and the West End is only a 10-minute drive away.
The Hotel originally had 860 bedrooms, each of them with a Ship’s Cabin design quality appropriate to the maritime heritage of the area. This design was emphasised by the nautical detailing on the furniture.
Built as part of the redevelopment of St Katharine’s Dock, The Tower took 3 years to build and is on an island site located between the River Thames and St Katharine’s Dock. The opening ceremony on 19th September 1973 was carried out by Field Marshal Sir Richard Hull, GCB DSO, constable of the Tower of London.
