SEE this colourful retelling of the biblical story about Joseph, his uncanny abilities and his designer coat, as it must finish 30 May.
With a crash of drums and a flash of light, Gareth Gates as Joseph continues to dazzle the West End in his coat of many colours.
In an energetic and vibrant new staging of the record breaking 1990s London Palladium production, Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s family classic is entertaining a whole new generation, with a score which is wall to wall hits - including Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do.
With its mixture of infectious energy and joie de vivre JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT is ‘a dream ticket’ The Sun
Gates was the runner-up in the first season of Pop Idol in 2002, narrowly missing out to the incredibly popular Will Young. Gates’ participation nonetheless kick-started a career in pop music that has seen him sell 3.5 million records to date and top the singles chart four times.
Gates’ vocal talent blossomed early on, becoming the Head Chorister at Bradford Cathedral at just eleven years old and singing for the Queen at age thirteen. More recently Gates appeared in ITV’s “Dancing on Ice” and wowed crowds across the country on the subsequent “Dancing on Ice” UK Tour.
Gareth had this to say of his West End debut: “I have a lot to thank Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat for as it is the reason I first started singing, after being chosen to play the lead in a school production when I was eight years old. Ever since then it’s been a dream of mine to appear in a West End musical. I am really honoured to be appearing at the Adelphi, stepping into that famous coat and really can’t wait to get stuck in!”
