The bar adds an innovative list of 50-strong cocktails to its mix of fresh fruit drinks, premium beers and spirits, champagnes and World wines.

Way back in the early 70’s, when it was nigh impossible to find a decent burger or grill in London, Brian Stein set forth to open Maxwell’s Hampstead. His concept was simple: a restaurant with a relaxed but vibrant atmosphere where friendly staff would serve these now famous burgers. It worked and it worked well, attracting the likes of Peter Cooke, Dudley Moore and Peter Sellers from the word go.

Come the 80’s, after a decade of the West End coming to Maxwell’s, clearly it was time to bring a bit of Hampstead to the West End... enter Maxwell’s Covent Garden. Surrounded by shops, offices, theatres and the Royal Opera House, it was an instant hit with a buzzy West End mix of residents, workers and visitors, many of whom loyally still frequent Maxwell’s today.

From 90’s through to the Noughties, as Covent Garden renovated and rejuvenated, so Maxwell’s regenerated. By way of relocating from Russell St. to James St., modernising its menu but not compromising on its classics and adding a thriving bar to its repertoire. Maxwell’s Covent Garden is even stronger today than the gourmet burger trend it started over 30 years ago.
