Set in Oxford in the 1950s, Shadowlands tells the moving story of the doomed relationship with American divorcee Joy Gresham (Dee), who was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
William Nicholson's play premiered in the UK in 1990, winning several major awards and transferring to Broadway. It was made into a BAFTA-winning film in 1993 starring Anthony Hopkins and Debra Winger.
