Day One

Travelling by train, they arrived in Manchester Piccadilly at about 13.45 and checked into the Sachas Hotel, where they stayed for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis.

After checking in to their rooms for a quick freshen up it was off to the Urbis Centre

Located at the heart of Manchester, Urbis is an exhibition centre focusing on city life. Urbis' exhibition programme explores the culture and dynamism of cities around the world, covering photography, design, architecture, music, contemporary art and much more. We run thought-provoking events, which include tours, talks, workshops and family activities.

Here they were booked in for two tours: the City Tour - an hour long circular tour of the city taking in the city sights from an architectural point of view. Also Explore Urbis' design features, find out why and how it was built, and its architectural context within the surrounding historic buildings. The tour includes a complete walk around the Urbis exterior and stops in spaces not normally open to visitors.

Finishing around 17.30 it was back to the hotel to change for dinner

followed by a performance of "The Vortex" at the Royal Exchange Theatre.

Day Two

Time this morning for the college's own itinerary then shopping before a spot of lunch & then back to the Royal Exchange Theatre for a workshop incorporating the architecture of the theatre and how the director uses the space for the performance and what significance this has for the actors. (This workshop lasted for an hour and a half, but workshops can be tailor-made to suit your requirements.)
