Top Hat

It’s time to ‘put on your top hat and brush off your tails’ as 77 years after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers lit up Hollywood’s silver screen with one of the greatest dance musicals of all time, RKO Pictures’ Top Hat is now in the West End.

Packed full of Irving Berlin’s greatest hits, such as Let’s Face the Music and Dance and Top Hat, White Tie and Tails, stunning tap, romantic ballroom and a little bit of Busby Berkeley thrown in for good measure, Top Hat is a giddy, glorious celebration of 1930s song and dance, featuring magnificent sets, over 200 costumes and a love story that will set the pulses racing!

In February 2013 West End and Broadway veteran Gavin Lee took over the role of Jerry Travers. Lee has spent the last six years in New York starring as Bert in hit production Mary Poppins a role which he originated at the Prince Edward theatre.

Another West End "regular" who has recently joined the cast is Canadian born Alex Gaumond. Most recently Gaumond played Elle Woods’ love interest in the hugely successful Legally Blonde The Musical at the Savoy theatre. He has also starred as Galileo in Queen hit We Will Rock You at the Dominion theatre. He will play for laughs the over-romantic Alberto Bendini in Top Hat.

Broadway actress Kristen Beth Williams is the third actress to play scoiety girl Dale Tremont taking over from Charlotte Gooch.

Top Hat is an amazing show full of catchy, well-known songs and outstanding dance numbers. It really is brilliantly staged and a wonderful feel-good musical which thoroughly entertains.
