Theatre Breaks News: From Stage to Screen
From Stage to Screen
With the release of the film Rock of Ages this year, it got me thinking as to what other West End shows have either been made into a film or perhaps started life as one before wowing us all on the stage.
There are so many to choose from but thought I’d give you shows where huge savings can be made. Our super Theatre Breaks deals include overnight hotel accommodation with breakfast and top price seats …
A firm favourite in our house The Woman in Black – originally a book by Susan Hill. I must admit I saw the play several times before I finally read the book. There was a TV adaptation made of it back in the 1980s which still terrifies me & the kids, but we were also very impressed with the 2012 film starring Daniel Radcliffe.
Woman in Black Theatre Breaks from £77.50pp!
Next up are the current shows that began life on a screenwriters desk and eventually made a huge impact on the stage. Gems such as Billy Elliot, Singin in the Rain, Top Hat and Shrek the Musical are all hugely popular with family audiences and all have GREAT DEALS!
Billy Elliot Theatre Breaks from £100.75pp
Singin in the Rain Theatre Breaks from £92.25pp
Top Hat Theatre Breaks from £88.75pp
Shrek Theatre Breaks from £93.25pp
If the romantic in you still lives on then there’s no better musical to watch than Ghost at the Piccadilly Theatre. To my surprise this has adapted really well to the stage and the heart-breaking story of deceased Sam & still-living Molly trying to re-connect through fake medium Ode Mae will have the tissues out of your pockets within the first 1/2 hour.
Ghost Theatre Breaks from £104.50pp
The most recent stage musical to be put on the big screen is, of course, Rock of Ages playing at the Shaftesbury Theatre. This “rock-athon” of 80s anthems has a cult following and the audience can’t help but stand up and rock themselves silly in the aisles.
Rock of Ages Theatre Breaks from £94pp!
There many more of course and I will continue with my list next week…
