Theatre Break News : World Premiere of The Bodyguard Musical
Making its World Premiere 20 years on from the original release of the film, The Bodyguard musical will open at the Adelphi theatre, London in December 2012. Bursting to the brim with all of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits, previews start from 6th November.

The Bodyguard is the ideal romantic thriller to snuggle down to come the dark Autumn nights and a The Bodyguard Theatre Break would make an ideal Christmas present for the one you love!
Adapted from the originally screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan, The Bodyguard will feature not only the songs from the Oscar winning soundtrack including Queen of the Night, I Have Nothing and of course, I Will Always Love You, but also many of the late-lamented Whitney Houston’s other hits such as I Wanna Dance with Somebody, Saving All My Love for You, One Moment in Time and How Will I Know.

Native Trinidad & Tobagan Heather Headley, who plays the character of rock-icon Rachel Marron, has already made her pressence felt on Broadway with both a Tony and Grammy Award under her belt. She was the original Nala in The Lion King in New York and won critical acclaim (and afore-mentioned Tony) for her perfomance in Aida. Now living in New York, Heather confesses that at first she wasn’t sure about upping sticks and heading off to London, but her husband convinced her that she should go and she will be bringing her 2 year old son to London to live with her during the initial 6 month run.
Taking on the title role of Frank Farmer is London born Lloyd Owen (son of actor Glyn Owen – who I fondly remember from Howard’s Way) who has had a long acting career which has encompassed stage, film and tv. He is probably best known to British audiences for his role as Paul Bowman-MacDonald in BBC’s The Monarch of the Glen. Lloyd has spent the last three years living in sun-drenched Los Angeles, but was so thrilled to be offered the part of Frank Farmer that he immediately flew back to stormy London and even announced that he had missed rain!

The Bodyguard Theatre Break is THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER ticket this year and having heard Heather Headley sing I Have Nothing & I Will Always Love You at the Savoy launch party I am very, very excited by it!
