Theatre Breaks News : October (2)
There are so many shows opening in London's West End this Autumn, it's making life hard on me because I want to see them all! Which one(s) will you chose?
My first offering to wet your theatrical taste buds is the long anticipated return of Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem previewing from 8th October at the Apollo Theatre. Once more Mark Rylance leads the stellar cast which also features Mackenzie Crook and again it's directed by former Royal Court Artistic Director Ian Rikson (who directed me in a student play in back in 1990!) Don't miss out on what is sure to be one of the best comedies of the theatrical year...BOOK YOUR JERUSALEM THEATRE BREAK NOW!
Next up, is another play, Death and the Maiden, which opens at the newly named Harold Pinter Theatre (formerly The Comedy) on 24th October (previews from 13th Oct). I have only seen the film version and it was pretty intense, so I can imagine the play being double in the suspense ratings only because you'll feel trapped inside the room with the pivitol actors. Thandie Newton stars... BOOK YOUR DEATH AND THE MAIDEN THEATRE BREAK NOW!
On a lighter note, I'm very pleased to announce that the excellent Chicago will be transferring to the Garrick Theatre on 7th Nov. Finally wrapping up after 14 years at the Cambridge Theatre, the show will be given a new lease of life in it's new venue. Whilst in the past I have heard people complain that the show was getting a little tired, I am certain that the new cast & and new stage will inject some vigour in to what I can only describe as the world's "sexiest" musical... BOOK YOU CHICAGO
