Guys & Dolls – based on the stories and characters of Damon Runyon’s book of short stories of the same name – sees The Bridge Theatre transform for one of the greatest musicals of all time.

Packed full of finely drawn New York characters, from gamblers to the good folk of the Salvation Army, Guys and Dolls tells the story of Nathan Detroit who is trying to raise cash for an illegal dice game. When he meets up with Sky Masterson he sees his chance. But what of Sarah Brown at the mission? What of his Fiancée of 14 years Miss Adelaide? What of Big Jule and Harry the Horse and Nicely Nicely Johnson?

I’ve known of the musical for as long as I can remember: the film staring Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons and Frank Sinatra.  But it wasn’t until my daughter lent me her copy of Runyon’s book of short stories that the rhythms and the language, the style and the characters of New York really came to life.

Get a copy of Damon Runyon’s book of short stories. There is a reason he became one of Americas’s leading voices of popular culture. Plus it will make you appreciate the utter brilliance of Frank Loesser’s music and lyrics.

Bottom line? Guys and Dolls has more hit songs, more laughs and more romance than any show ever written. This feel-good show features some of the most memorable and entertaining songs of musical history including “Luck be a Lady”, “Sit down you’re rocking the boat”, Adelaide’s Lament, “Guys and Dolls” and “Take Back you Mink”.

Seated or Immersive Tickets

And this production takes you to the heart of it. Theatre Breaks guests can chose between seated seats or interactive standing seats which get you even closer to the action. The seating is wrapped around the action while the immersive tickets transport you to the streets of Manhattan and the bars of Havana in this, one of the unlikeliest of all love stories.

HINT: at the interval, immersive guests should make their way to the tables closest to the band. Take a seat: you’ll be in for a surprise that will make the evening even more memorable!
