Ex-Eastender John Partridge leads the cast of hit musical La Cage aux Folles which begins it’s first ever UK tour in 2017. This wonderfully comical and colourful show comes to the Edinburgh Playhouse from 7 – 11 th March which makes it a perfect way to have short break enjoying Spring in Scotland’s premier city.
Georges and his partner, Albin, the dazzling drag star of the stage show La Cage aux Folles, live an idyllic existence in the heart of St Tropez. But their contented lifestyle is upset when Georges’ son, Jean-Michel, visits them in the South of France to announce his engagement to the daughter of a notorious right-wing politician, who has very strong views on same-sex relationships and is determined to close down the local colourful night-life. Drama and hilarity ensue when a meeting of the parents forces Georges and ALbin to cover up their vibrant lifestyle, will Albin be able to play the role of his life to ensure that Jean-Michel can marry his love?
With John Partridge (A Chorus Line, Cats, Starlight Express and Chicago) as flamboyant Albin, is Broadway star Adrian Zmed as Georges, who audiences of a certain age will remember as Officer Vince Romano alongside William Shatner in the long running tv hit series T.J. Hooker. Adding a touch of theatre royalty is West End icon, Marti Webb, a platinum selling recording artist with the album Tell Me on a Sunday, which was a show she also preformed in written specially for her vocal talents by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black.
La Cage aux Folles features a show-stopping score including The Best of Times, Song on the Sand and I Am What I Am.
