Back in Theatreland, London after a 19 year absence, Annie Theatre Breaks are a hot favourite for the summer and a top contender for THE Christmas show in 2017!
As well as starring one of Britian’s favourite comedian’s, Miranda Hart, as the coniving Miss Hannigan, Annie also features a wonderful, award-winning score including the memorable songs Hard Knock Life, Easy Street and Tomorrow.
Set in Depression-era New York, the story follows Annie and her life of misery at Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Determined to find her parents, the little girl’s luck turns around when she is chosen to spend Christmas at the home of famous billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Only the jealous and scheming Miss Hannigan stands in the way of Annie’s search for a better life.
Annie has been adapted for the big screen twice : first in 1982 (with Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks) and in 2014 where we saw Jamie Foxx as Warbucks and Cameron Diaz as evil Miss Hannigan. The musical has also been out on a UK tour where the role was played by “Strictly” judge Craig Revel Horwood and more recently “Birds of a Feather” actress Lesley Joseph.
Importantly, children’s tickets will be half price for Monday, Wednesday & Thursday performances. The West End is traditionally rather stingy when it comes to child discounts, so this is expected to be a very popular move.
Please note: Miranda Hart appears as Miss Hannigan until September 17th 2017. The appearance of any artist cannot be guaranteed.
