Amanda Holden lead an all-star cast with the West End revival of Stepping Out
Opened at the Vaudeville theatre in March 2017, Richard Harris’ comedy saw Holden star alongside Tamsin Outhwaite, Angela Griffin, Tracey-Ann Oberon and Nicola Stephenson following a short tour.
Harris’ ingenious writing weaves a wonderfully funny story set over several month charting the lives of seven women and one man attempting to tap their troubles away at a weekly dancing class.
Playing the haughty Vera, Amanda Holden, who, although, is probably most well known as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, she is no stranger to the stage having been nominated for an Olivier Award in 2004 for her leading role in Thoroughly Modern Millie. More recently she also starred in Shrek the Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
Recently seen on ITV’s bitter-sweet comedy series Brief Encounters, ex-Coronation Street & Waterloo Road actress Angela Griffin will play the role of bubbley Sylvia. There wss also two ex-Eastenders in the cast in the form of Tracy-Ann Oberman and Tamzin Outhwaite and former Brookside & Holby City actress Nicola Stephenson.
Back in 1984 Stepping Out was the winner of the Evening Standard Comedy of the Year Award and it was made into a musical film starring Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters in 1991.
