Edinburgh Fringe Awards 2016 – The Stage

Liam Brennan for Diary of a Madman and Kill the Beast for Don’t Wake the Damp are the first two recipients of The Stage’s Edinburgh Awards for 2016.

The theatre newspaper reviews hundreds of Edinburgh Fringe shows each year, taking on extra staff for the job and, for the last 21 years, the awards have highlighted hot shows and excellent acting on the fringe.

Don’t Wake the Damp was described as the team’s “best show yet” and won a 5 star review from The Stage.

Brennan’s “strong, anchoring performance’ won him the award as Pop Sheeran in Diary of a Madman.

Founded in 1995 the awards celebrate the richness and diversity on the fringe, from solo shows to ensemble pieces.

This year also sees the launch of The Stage Edinburgh Podcast, a six-part series of top picks and interviews with Fringe theatremakers. The podcast is available via the Podcasts app on Apple devices, SoundCloud or The Stage website.
