Take That front man Gary Barlow’s first original score is set to enchant London theatre audiences when Finding Neverland transfers to the West End in 2017.
Seen previously in the UK at the Leicester Curve theatre in 2012, the musical is based on the Oscar winning 2004 film which starred Johnny Depp and Kate Winslett, Finding Neverland follows author and playwright J M Barrie’s chance meeting with the beautiful widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her four boys, Jack, George, Michael and Peter. As Barrie is drawn into the family dynamic, his imagination is ignited as he watches the children play make believe games – thus the seed of his world-famous novel of the boy who never grew up, Peter Pan, is planted.
There’s also a tender love story running in the background as Barrie and Sylvia’s feelings toward each other grow but it is a relationship they can take no further than friendship as Barrie is already married – albeit to a woman he knew was having an affair with another man.
Multi award-winning Barlow, who has a long list of number one hits to his name as well as being former head-judge of The X Factor along with songwriter and Grammy Award® winner Eliot Kennedy have written a breathtaking new musical packed with mesmerising visuals, plenty of laughs and over a dozen original songs. It will premiere in London in January 2017.
