Theatre Breaks News: Matilda wins big at Awards Night!

Matilda wins big at Awards Night!

More awards for Matilda The Musical as it picked up four gongs, including Best New Musical, at Sunday’s Awards.
Having already won in the same category at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards, the RSC production, continued its success with Peter Darling winning Best Choreographer, Rob Howell winning Best Set Designer and comedian Tim Minchin winning London Newcomer of the Year. Not bad for a chap’s musical theatre debut writing the music and lyrics for the Roald Dahl adaptation!
The National Theatre also continued its success after a bumper crop of prizes at the Critics’ Circle Awards earlier this year. It scooped up awards for its hit comedy One Man, Two Guvnors, dramatric play War Horse & critically acclaimed production of Frankenstein.
