Hi

This last month has seen the opening of two great Broadway classics, an hilarious home-grown comedy and the launch of our new season of breaks featuring performances at the Royal Opera House, the London Coliseum and Sadlers Wells, so, to continue the theme, welcome to our spectacular dance newsletter:

5! 6! 7! 8!

So last week I went to see 42nd Street (which I loved) and this week, the critics (and HRH The Duchess of Cambridge) saw it for the first time too. Apart from one grumpy old hack, I saw four and five star reviews across the board for this tap dancing mega-musical.

We are currently able to offer special prices for the show, midweek, so, if you can be tempted, like the Duchess of Cambridge was last night, one night/two day Theatre Breaks for 42nd Street start at just £127.50 per person including top price saver tickets.

Here are some production shots of the show and a rather fun video of the 42nd Street sign, going up, on the front of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, to get you in the mood.

The biggest discounts this month, however, come from our Show of the Month and I am very happy to announce that this month, it is An American in Paris.

Yes, I was surprised too! So hats off to our in-house negotiator, David, for landing that one!

This sensational Broadway production has been getting 5 star reviews across the board from the critics and, if you don’t believe me, maybe you will believe Darcey Bussell in this video shot during the London launch of the show.

This is wonderful production, packed full of sumptuous dance numbers to the glorious music of George Gershwin. Discounts for theatre and hotel packages go right through the summer and prices start from just £99 per person (based on dates at the beginning of May).

If you fancy a titter with your tap, Richard Harris’s tap-dancing comedy, Stepping Out has just opened at the Vaudeville Theatre. It’s the story of a group of women learning to tap dance at evening classes and stars a veritable plethora of British actresses including Amanda Holden, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Nicola Stephenson, Natalie Casey and Anna-Jane Casey.

Of course, like most plays and comedies, Stepping Out is only on for a short time and it closes on 17th June 2017.

Theatre Breaks News - April London Theatre BreaksIf you are looking further ahead, at the weekend I updated our opera and ballet packages and you can now book right through the year and beyond Christmas for a wide variety of dance and ballet at the Royal Opera House, London Coliseum and Sadlers Wells. Summer highlights include a season from the Mariinsky Ballet from St Petersburg, but my personal favourite is the annual Christmas production of The Nutcracker, at the London Coliseum.

It’s not wrong to be already thinking about Christmas, is it?

Just think, you could come back, from your summer holiday, safe in the knowledge that the family Christmas present, a trip to London to see The Nutcracker, has already been dealt with!

Lastly, I’ve noticed recently that there has been a fair bit in the news about brooms – whether they have been used for curling, quidditch or sweeping the roads of China: there was even a broom convention in the US last weekend!

Of course we all know that there is only one thing that a broom should be used for and, to see that, you need to head to the Ambassadors Theatre to watch a performance of the amazing Stomp!

Using a host of everyday objects to create their own fascinating rhythms, the Stomp crew present a non-stop feast of movement and percussion in a unique show that will have you bashing bin lids all the way home and looking forward to do the housework!

Theatre Breaks for Stomp are now available up to January 2018.

So that is the end to our rather dancy April Newsletter – I hope it has inspired you, if not to dance, then at least to come to London and watch others do it, because the performances really are truly amazing.

All the best
