Following Caesar’s assassination, Mark Antony has reached the heights of power, but he begins to neglect his empire when he becomes enamoured with Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt. Torn between both love and duty, Antony attempts to regain his power by marrying Octavia, but upon hearing the news his volitile mistress flies into a jealous rage with fatal consequences.

One of Shakespeare’s earlier plays, Antony and Cleopatra has become one of the most performed. In the 1972 film version the title roles were played by Charlon Heston and Hildegard Neil. Heston also adapted the screenplay.
