The Two Noble Kinsmen in Stratford upon Avon are no longer available
Friendship is put to the ultimate test in William Shakespeare’s and John Fletcher The Two Noble Kinsmen – an epic tale of the painful intoxication and strangeness of love..
The RSC perform a rarely seen play which Shakespeare wrote with John Fletcher based on the Chaucer poem The Knight’s Tale.
Billed as A Midsummer Night’s Dream meets Fight Club this tragi- comedy, sees cousins and best friends, Palamon and Arcite, captured in battle and imprisoned. From their window they see a beautiful woman, Emilia, walk past and both fall instantly in love with her which has a sudden and lasting effect on their close friendship turning it to a jealous rivalry in the space of a minute. When both men are set free, the fierce battle to win the love of Emilia continues to its tragic end.
Director Blanche McIntyre brings an intoxicating world where chauvinist men are confronted by resilient women and love is a prize in a deadly game.
